Chronicle scoops award

At the 2007 Midlands Media Awards held by Birmingham Press Club in the city last week, our paper had 16 nominations.

On the night, the title of News Reporter of the Year (Weekly) went to former Chronicle reporter Richard Botley. News editor Liz Gray won the same award in 2006.

Meanwhile, editor John Butterworth came second in Headline of the Year and reporters Peter Kitchen and Laura Bradbeer were highly commended in Newcomer of the Year.

The awards showcase some of the region’s finest talent from newspapers and radio.

Mr Butterworth said: “This is a superb achievement for the Chronicle to have won a top award for the second year in a row.”
