Mayor of Shrewsbury charity appeal

Food lovers are being encouraged to sample a taste of Italy in a bid to boost the Mayor of Shrewsbury’s charity appeal.

Councillor John Cooke and his wife Margaret will be holding a Tuscany evening at North Farm at Felton Butler, near Nesscliffe, on May 2.

The evening will include a champagne reception and charity auction, while Italian cuisine will be prepared by staff at Shrewsbury’s Paolo’s restaurant and Lou Lou Fayre, run by Councillor Cooke’s daughter Louise.

More than 100 tickets have already been sold for the event, with proceeds going towards the mayor’s charities – the Shrewsbury and District voluntary branch of Diabetes UK, the Haematology Unit at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution.

Further attractions include a live band and disco, and the event is white/black tie.

Councillor Cooke said: “I’m very pleased with the number of tickets we have sold already and I’m hoping the event will continue to generate interest.”

Tickets cost £30 and any requests must be made by April 25.
