Darwin designer hits back

The designer of the controversial £200,000 Quantum Leap sculpture for the Darwin bicentenary celebrations has hit back at his critics.

Colin Pearce, of Pearce and Lal Art and Sculpture, has moved to reassure residents over fears the sculpture, which will be built on Mardol Quay Gardens, would lead to anti-social behaviour and would ruin the view across the River Severn.

In a letter, he said he believed it could contribute to the ‘future of Shrewsbury as a tourism and leisure centre’.
