Gold for healthy eating

A Shrewsbury primary school has joined the growing ranks of public premises recognised for providing healthy food options.

Bicton Primary School has been given the gold level Shropshire Healthy Eating Award run by Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council and the NHS.

The award promotes healthier food options and high standards of food hygiene and safety, as well as supporting current smoke-free requirements.

Sue Lawless, catering manager at Bicton School, said: “The school is proud of the its dinners and we regularly invite parents and families to join children for school dinners during term-time.”

Benefits to premises which are given the award include public recognition through an easily recognisable window logo, and an official certificate
