Award for The Third Place

A town restaurant has finished in the top ten of a national festival of curry held at the House of Commons.

The contest, now in its third year, encourages constituencies to take part to mark the diversity of British culture, in addition to raising money for charity, and celebrating the best in South Asian cuisine.

Third Place owner Saiful Chowdhury said he was delighted to have done so well in the competition, which involved more than 50 restaurants from 54 constituencies.

“We are proud for Shrewsbury,” he said. “We would like to attend this type of competition again.”

Mr Kawczynski said: “I’m delighted that they did so well and I very much hope that this will encourage other Indian restaurants in Shrewsbury to apply next year for the competition.

“We are lucky in my constituency to have such a wealth of excellent restaurants from all over the world many who use local produce.”
