The Travellers Rest Inn

WELCOME to our new Wine and Dine feature  which replaces our popular Food for Thought. Each week we will be highlighting the latest news from a local pub or restaurant.

A stylish pub with a new summer menu is open to business promising friendly staff and a wide range of tasty food.

The Travellers Rest Inn, based on the main A49 between Craven Arms and Church Stretton, boasts an extensive choice of food and drinks, and will be hosting themed nights and fundraising fun days during the month.

Inside, the pub has an unusual lime green and raspberry furniture interior, a bar which serves Woods real ales, plenty of restaurant seating, and also includes a conservatory restaurant area and secluded rear outdoor seating.

The Travellers Rest has recently introduced a regional summer menu, served all day, and will be served alongside their popular carvery.

Starters include a homemade duck pate, served with hot toast and also a summer prawn avocado salad with plenty of large prawns. There is a wide selection of main courses, including the day’s specials, the carvery, and specialities include a locally sourced 10oz rump steak, cooked to the punter’s preference.

The carvery offers a choice of joints including local beef, Worcestershire turkey, and crackling coated pork vegetable bake, with a wide selection of vegetables.

On Tuesdays the pub host their Nostalgia Night, which offers a selection of dishes from their main menu, but two courses cost just £10 on Tuesdays.

On Bank Holiday Monday (August 25) the pub is holding a family fun day with adult and children’s bouncy castle, have-a-go rodeo bull and an outdoor carvery, served from midday onwards. The day will be sponsored by Woods, and proceeds will go towards various cancer charities.
