Shrewsbury residents are being given the chance to have their say on ParkRight services as part of a review into the organisation’s future.
Elected councillors from Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council, Shropshire County Council, and other district representatives on the joint parking advisory group are leading a review regarding the future level of enforcement undertaken by ParkRight.
The organisation was launched in November 2006, as a partnership agreement across the county for the operation of on and off street parking enforcement.
The existing agency agreement is due to expire on November 20, but Shropshire County Council has agreed to extend it to March 31 when the service will transfer to the new Shropshire Council.
Councillors are taking the opportunity to review the service and make sure it meets stakeholders’ requirements and is ‘fit for purpose’.
Councillor Peter Nutting, leader of Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council, said: “As council leader I have received hundreds of informal comments about ParkRight but now is the chance for the public to really influence the future of the service.
“Please let us have your opinion of ParkRight, both good and bad, so that we can shape the service to the needs of everyone in the new Shropshire.”
County Councillor John Everall, Shropshire County Council’s cabinet member for economy and environment and chairman of the parking advisory group, said: “I have heard many different views about ParkRight over the last 18 months.
“I welcome this review and would urge people to let us know their views so that they can help inform the future operation of this difficult, but important service.”
The closing date for consultation is Friday, September 19, the form can be completed on paper or electronically with details available via Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council’s website www.shrewsbury.gov.uk following the links on the ‘Have Your Say’ area.
