Woman’s poignant last request

The family of a 48-year-old Shrewsbury woman has been left shocked and saddened after she passed away last week – just ten days after being diagnosed with cancer.

Caroline Turner was being treated by doctors at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for headaches when they detected the disease and gave her just a year to live.

But last Thursday, August 28, Ms Turner, from Lancaster Road, sadly passed away at home.

She leaves behind two sons, Stuart, 14, and Wayne, 22, two sisters Carmen Davies and Erica Jones, and her mother Inge Turner, all from the town.

Her beloved dog, eight-year-old Jack, has also been left homeless because nobody else in the family is able to take him in and Ms Turner specifically requested he should not be sent back to a shelter.

Ms Turner’s niece, Amy Davies, said the family were all deeply shocked and saddened.

“When they told her they gave her a year, but just a few days later they gave her a week. She was only home for ten days, it was so quick and sudden and we’re all still in shock.

“My auntie took him in from a shelter when he was just six months old and she requested that we didn’t put him back in, but unfortunately no one in the family can look after him.”

Miss Davies said Ms Turner, a child care assistant, was well-known in the area and was often out and about walking Jack.

“We want to try and find a caring home for Jack, he wants someone who will play with him, Caroline really didn’t want him to go back into a shelter.”
