An international star with Rugby World Cup experience could be on the opposing side when Shrewsbury look to continue their bright start in Midlands Four West (North) at Veseyans on Saturday.
The Birmingham-based club signed No 8 Zak Feaunati from big guns Bath in the summer after he landed the post of head of rugby at nearby Bishop Vesey Grammar School.
He previously played for Samoa 13 times, including at the 1999 World Cup, before spending five seasons at Bath.
“It would be nice to play against someone of his class but then again I suppose if he wins them the game it’s not so good for us,” said Shrewsbury spokesman Mattie Morris.
“He will miss some games because of his school coaching commitments but we’re not sure whether this will be one of them.
“We’ve played against good players before but certainly no-one of his class so it will be interesting if he does play.”
Shrewsbury, who have won both of their league games so far this term, make two changes to their front row on Saturday with Damien Kinney and Brian Jenkins replacing Steve O’Hara and Nick Challinor while Sam Wycherley takes over from Richard Hooper in the back row.
“We’ve got strength in depth in the squad and there’s hardly anyone safe in terms of keeping their place,” added Morris. “That’s a good position to be in having so much competition.”
