An 11-year-old waterskiing enthusiast who already holds a national title has now been crowned the under-12 European champion.
Sophie Jones, from Radbrook Green, took part in the International Youth Criterium in Roquebrune, France, at the weekend and beat off stiff competition for the crown.
Her dad and coach, Keith Jones, said he was especially delighted at her success because she beat French competitors on their home turf.
“She did exceptionally well and got 700 points more than her personal best.
“She won the trick event for under-12s and the gold medal.
“It’s very unusual because that’s the French site where they train. I’m just ecstatic, absolutely over the moon.”
As well as winning the individual title, Sophie’s team claimed second place at the event.
