A village pub which provides a relaxed and friendly environment for diners is launching a new menu for hungry mid-week diners.
The Cygnets, in Hook-a-Gate, has a wide choice of menus to choose from including weekly specials, restaurant, bar, light-bites, and a dedicated children’s section. All food is prepared to the highest standards and to suit individual tastes.
Ian Jones and Clair Sale have been running the pub for more than three years – and to help customers feeling the credit crunch they have started a ‘two meals for £10’ offer.
Main courses are served with chips and salads or vegetables and cost £5.95 each, or two for £10.
Choices include quarter-pound cheeseburger, chicken burger, sausage, egg, chips and beans, breaded cod, lasagne, bangers and mash, cottage pie, chilli con carne and rice, broccoli and cream cheese bake, mushroom porcini ravioli, and a range of curries.
A dedicated curry night runs on Thursdays where diners can enjoy a curry and a pint for £6.
The Sunday carvery is a popular choice and Ian said it is advisable to book.
“It’s extremely popular and we usually do more than 100 meals,” he said.
“We have two sittings in the restaurant, at noon and 2pm, and we also serve in the bar between noon and 3pm.”
He said a lunchtime menu for senior citizens is proving successful from Tuesdays to Sundays. One course costs £5.50, two courses £6.95.
The Cygnets is now taking bookings for its Christmas day menu, which costs £50 per adult for six courses, and £20 for children aged 6 to 12.
