Santa will not be coming to Baschurch this year because a charity group cannot get enough helpers for him.
Members of Wem and District Round Table normally organise for Santa and his sleigh to visit Wem and the surrounding villages of Baschurch, Myddle, Clive and Loppington to collect money for local charities.
A crunch meeting will be held on Monday to try to secure Santa’s ‘presents’ in the area.
Bryn Thomas, chairman of the group, said people were so busy and had less time now and members of the group were getting older and less able to help.
“It would be a pity for it to stop as a lot of people enjoy it but it’s unfair to keep asking the same people,” he said.
He added that each Christmas they raised around £1,500.
Bryn said that the group had approached Wem Rotary Club about taking over to ensure Santa’s return.
