Prostar’s the name… goals the game

Fans who have watched all Prostar Stadium matches involving Shrewsbury Town teams this season can have no complaints about the entertainment level – with nearly half a century of home goals already rattled in.

Town teams – be it the first team, the reserves or youths – have appeared at the Prostar a dozen times this term, helping themselves to no less than 46 goals at a healthy average of nearly four a game.

The first team have found the net 19 times in their seven home matches, with the rare blank they drew in going out of the Carling Cup to Carlisle in August the only home match which has seen any Town side not produce a goal this season.

That apart, they have hit hapless Gillingham for seven and plundered four apiece against Macclesfield and Bournemouth.

Town’s reserves have been consistent marksmen on home soil, scoring 12 goals in three games in which they have put six past Sheffield Wednesday and five past Macclesfield’s second string.

Nigel Vaughan’s youth team have been even more ruthless, hammering 15 goals in two Prostar appearances in the Midland Youth Cup, including a 10-0 demolition of Kidderminster.
