Villagers flock to YFC day

Young farmers raised almost £200 for charity by holding a weekend coffee morning.

More than 50 villagers turned out for the event held by members of Alberbury Young Farmers Club at Alberbury Village Hall on Saturday.

The event included a popular raffle, a host of stalls and plenty of cakes to go around, and £180 was raised for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI).

The charity raises funds to help support farmers suffering through stress and hardship, and this was the first event villagers had held for the cause.

James Wynne, former club chairman and one of the event organisers, said: “It was for a good cause and we had lots of members and their friends turn out. It’s the second year we have held a coffee morning and the first time for this charity.”

The club is holding a new members’ evening on October 27 at Alberbury Village Hall.
