If I Could Turn Back Time
If I could turn back time
I should go back to Spring
To see the crocuses in the woods
And hear the skylarks sing.
No flowers blossom here though,
No bird begins the day;
Even the tall and withered grass
Has vanished quite away.
The screaming wall of fighting
Today will seal my fate;
I wish I had not left you, love.
Now I shall have to wait
To hold you gently in my arms
And kiss your curling hair.
Till then I must return to earth
And breathe the gas-clogged air.
I will not see the Spring again.
The sun will cease to shine.
But we will see each other, dear,
If I could turn back time.
