New restaurant creating up to 15 jobs

A new Chinese fast food restaurant could be opening its doors in Shrewsbury within weeks – creating up to 15 full and part-time jobs.

Soy Oriental Express will replace the former KFC premises on Claremont Hill next month. It will open between 10am and 11pm, seven days a week.

Contracts are due to be signed soon for the family-run business, which is the brainchild of Dave and Margaret Phillips who have more than 30-years’ experience in the catering industry. The couple opened a restaurant called Shanghai Dragon in Cyprus three years ago.

Their daughter Katie Hutton said the business marked the start of an exciting new venture for the family, who will offer both an eat in or takeaway service.

She said: “We are all very excited about the possibilities of this new venture and are pleased to be bringing something new to Shrewsbury in the form of another independent family business. We hope to create a relaxing atmosphere while implementing our strong values of excellent customer service and the serving of high quality but great value food and drink.”
