Shrewsbury Town fans are being urged to ‘get the Prostar Stadium rocking’ for tonight’s crunch League Two playoff semi-final against Bury.
The rallying cry has been issued by Town’s general manager Jon Harris, who told the Chronicle the fans would make a major difference to the team in their promotion push and praised them for their magnificent support during the season.
As the Chronicle went to press yesterday, more than 7,000 tickets had been sold for tonight’s game, with another 2,000 still on sale. And only 110 tickets were left on sale for Sunday’s second leg at Bury out of a 2,200 allocation.
Fans have formed long queues outside the ground in a bid to snap up the tickets since they were made available on Monday to season ticket holders, with tickets going on general sale yesterday. Home supporters can buy tickets up until kick -off.
Should Town beat Bury over two legs they would travel to Wembley for the play off final and the chance to win promotion to Coca Cola League One. Mr Harris said: “We are absolutely delighted with the response for such a massive game. We have extended our season which was the aim at the start of the season and we have had great support all season both home and away.
“This will be a great chance to get the Prostar Stadium rocking and the supporters really do make a difference. We will have magnificent support at Bury on Sunday too.”
