Thousands of people will be flocking to Shrewsbury Quarry this weekend for the annual flower show and, as the picture below shows, the event was just as popular more than 60 years ago.
This photograph was taken at Shrewsbury Flower Show on August 20, 1947, and printed in the Express & Star newspaper with the caption: “Salop Show – queue outside one of the tents at Shrewsbury Show.”
St Chad’s Church can be seen in the background and visitors seem to be making the most of the sunny weather – visitors to this year’s show will be hoping for more of the same!
