ORGANISERS of Shrewsbury Carnival are searching for bright young faces to lead this year’s parade through the town – and there’s only a couple of weeks left to enter.
Entry forms have been coming in for the annual Carnival Princess and Junior Town Crier competitions, and the deadline for entries is fast approaching.
The annual Carnival Princess and Junior Town Crier competitions are open to girls and boys aged seven to 12, and winners will receive prizes and take their place at the head of the
procession through town on carnival day, which this year is on June 19 and is being sponsored by the Darwin, Pride Hill and Riverside Shopping Centres.
The carnival raises funds for local charities every year and one of this year’s main beneficiaries is Dreamcatchers, a charity which helps makes the dreams of youngsters with serious illnesses
and injuries come true. The charity works closely with the Rainbow Ward at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
Judging takes place in the Darwin Shopping Centre between 10am and 12pm on February 27. The deadline for entry is Monday, February 22. Participants must be available on judging day and also the day of the carnival.
Winners will also be required to take part in precarnival publicity, including distributing the magazine and collections.
Applications must include the name of the entrant, an uptodate photograph, address, date of birth and the school they attend.
