The seventh annual Lingen Davies snowdrop walk has raised more than £1,700 for our appeal – with hundreds turning out to support the event.
Wolstan and June Whitaker, from Winsley Hall, Westbury, opened up the grounds of the hall for the public to enjoy more than 700 varieties of snowdrops.
Around 200 bunches of the flower were sold and it brings the total sum raised from the event to £10,000 since 2004.
Dot Garrett and her husband Dave have been heavily involved with the appeal since Dot was treated for cancer at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, and both helped out over the weekend on February 20-21.
Eryl Williams, fundraising manager for the Lingen Davies Cancer Appeal, said: “Well over 300 people attended over the two days. There was people of all ages, the sun was shining and it was a lovely walk. I’d like to say a huge thank you to Mr and Mrs Whitaker and Mr and Mrs Garrett and all the helpers over the weekend.
“I would also like to thank everyone that came out to support the event which was a huge success and a brilliant result for the charity.”
The money will go towards the appeal’s target of £3.2 million to build dedicated facilities for cancer patients at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
