Cup pairing means it’s a reunion for Rhodes

Haughmond have been handed a plum home tie against holders Ellesmere Rangers in the second round of the Shropshire Challenge Cup.

It means ex-Ellesmere boss John Rhodes, now assistant to Mark Jenks at County League high fliers Haughmond, will be trying to help plot the downfall of his former club who, having ended a run of five straight Midland Alliance defeats with a 0-0 draw at Biddulph Victoria on Tuesday, take on second placed Coalville at Beech Grove on Saturday.

The county cup clash at the Shrewsbury Sports Village will take place on Saturday, November 6 (1.30pm).

Elsewhere, Hanwood United host Impact United, Shawbury United travel to Morda, Wem Town face Ludlow Town at the Butler Sports Club Ground and Whitchurch Alport will welcome Broseley Juniors to Yockings Park.

Favourites Market Drayton Town travel to either Bridgnorth Town or Newport Town.

Meanwhile, the second round draw has been made for the Shropshire Sunday Premier Cup.

Matches will be played on November 7.
